About Me

I like to think of myself as an observer. I am the person who is content to go to a party and sit by himself, watching everyone mingle and have a good time while attempting to pick up details about the party goers. At the opportune moment, I spring into action and actually open my mouth to whip out a witty comment.

That being said, I have always enjoyed writing. I enjoy writing so much that I went to school for technical writing. I spend my days editing online customer support content to make sure it is up to snuff. As enjoyable as it is (no, really, I generally enjoy my work), I found myself wanting to write more creative things, or things that mean something to me, including my perceptions of the world. After all, there are only so many ways to describe how to perform an action in any give operating system...

I have thought about starting a blog multiple times, but my previous attempts always fizzled out. This time, I have the gumption to stick with it. This blog was started because I needed some additional practice before applying to a copy writing position (which I didn't get) at another company. But then my niece discovered my blog by pure happenstance, and word got out at a family reunion that I had started a blog. Not wanting to let my family down, I have continued detailing my exploits on a semi-regular basis.

You will often find a few characters running through my posts, namely Wifey (my wife), Munchkin (our two-and-a-half year old girl), and Munchkenna (our nine month old girl). Feel free to come get to know us a bit. As a tax for the privilege of getting to know us, you will have to put up with my views on work, music, books, higher education, and the not so boring aspects of my life.

You can see more information about my professional life on LinkedIn (if you feel so inclined). View some of my photography on Instagram under the handle of jawkneew8. I also frequent Twitter under the guise of jawkneew8. But the rest of me will remain hidden until you read my blog. I hope you enjoy! Feel free to leave a comment. I look forward to sending you a witty comment every now and again, should you return regularly. And sometimes when you don't.
